Take Charge of Your Growth

Matthew believes the skills you need evolve as your career progresses, and you are best placed to identify what to learn next. He values the flexibility to shape his own development through online learning and formal programmes. Beyond training, he enjoys podcasts and book reviews on mental well-being and philosophy, exploring how people respond to stress and better understand others. At FrieslandCampina, in-class training, ACE Academy and online platforms offer different ways to build new skills. For Matthew, a growth mindset means taking initiative, supported by the resources and space to turn intentions into action.

From Learning Frameworks to Real-World Decisions

Conţinut

When a time-sensitive business challenge arose in Hong Kong, Matthew put his learning into practice. The Learn to Grow programme had equipped him with the ETC framework - Emotion, Truth and Choice - to stay composed and consider his response. He also applied the OPPC framework from the Critical Thinking programme - Objective, Problem, Prevention and Contingency - to structure the problem, communicate a proposed solution to management and prepare an alternative when the original plan was not feasible. For Matthew, these tools were more than training concepts; they helped him approach a complex situation with greater clarity and a more structured plan.

Growth Happens Beyond the Classroom

At FrieslandCampina Hong Kong, learning extends beyond formal training. Talent meals allow employees to exchange ideas with senior leaders and gain new perspectives. One lesson that resonated with Matthew came from Roger’s approach to energy-based productivity: understanding when you perform best and aligning important tasks with peak energy levels, rather than simply managing time. This challenged Matthew’s traditional view of productivity and reinforced the value of working smarter. Exchanges with international colleagues also broaden his perspective on collaboration, reflecting a culture that encourages people to learn, embrace new ideas and apply them at work.

Conţinut

After seven years at FrieslandCampina Hong Kong, Matthew believes growth comes from staying curious and maintaining a growth mindset, remaining open to new ideas, perspectives and experiences. While he actively seeks inspiration through continuous learning, meaningful conversations and new challenges, the company provides the resources and opportunities that help him turn that curiosity into action. This shared commitment to learning and growth is a key reason he has chosen to continue his journey with FrieslandCampina. His advice to those considering joining the Hong Kong team is simple: stay curious, embrace a growth mindset, and make the most of the opportunities around you.
