Senior Social Sustainability Specialist (SSC)

The main purpose of a social sustainability specialist is to implement and support in the social sustainability strategies that promote sustainable and ethical practices within the global, regional and local organisation. This includes ensuring that the company complies with social regulations, implementing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives (DE&I), and promoting health and wellbeing in the workplace. 
 

In this role, you deliver and support the social sustainability agenda in the Operating Companies (OpCos) e.g. Human Rights risk mitigation program, DE&I/Wellbeing program, including training and awareness campaigns, roll-out DE&I mentorship program, with the aim to contribute to alignment of business practices with social sustainability practices.
 

The position is part of the Organisational Change & Social Sustainability Capability pool. Therefore, projects might also be related to supporting and implementing other change initiatives in the business.

What we ask

  • A completed degree in HR, law, social, development or sustainability studies.
  • Working and thinking level: Higher Vocational / Applied sciences / Bachelor and > 7 years of experience or Academic / Master (WO) > 5 years of experience.
  • Strong affinity with at least one of the social sustainability topics.
  • Previous Business and/or HR experience. 
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English. 
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project Management skills, being able to work independently and take ownership.
  • Being able to work in a multi-cultural, dynamic environment, at all levels and in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong in data driven decision making.
  • Growth mindset

Vacancy description

In this position you will:
 

  • Perform Human Rights risk assessment in operating companies, in order to come up with actionable improvement suggestions.
  • Host learning sessions on DE&I, Well-being and Human Rights to increase awareness levels around these topics. 
  • Support in research on and design of Global Employee Assistant program.
  • Support in and implement Change Management projects/initiatives in collaboration with People Advisors and the business.
  • Implement female mentor program.
  • Support in the partnerships on the Human Rights, DE&I and Well-being program.
  • Prepare reports and documentation to demonstrate the company's commitment to social responsibility.
  • Organise events from the social sustainability agenda. 
  • Support countries to activate their employees in e.g. Red Cross and other volunteering projects. 
  • Translate insights from data, drive gap analysis, support data driven decision making and data driven conversations with the business. 
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in social sustainability. 
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of social sustainability efforts.
