Development Specialist

Our R&D cream team is looking for an advanced product developer with some experience in the food related field. With advanced we mean you already obtained experience in Cream products and/or product development. We need you in order to strengthen FrieslandCampina’s position and fulfill our growth ambition in R&D Cream. By joining our Cream team, you will get the opportunity to join a dedicated team with a real customer mindset. You will be involved in the entire process from (co-)creating, initiating and implementing the development of new dairy and dairy alternative products (like cream, desserts, fillings, ice & shake, sauces and spray creams) for European & Asian markets.
As Product Developer, you support the maintenance of the current product portfolio and develop complete new products from concept to production start-up. You work in a multidisciplinary team and have regular contact with Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Procurement & suppliers and R&D Expert Teams in Wageningen. You continuously monitor technical feasibility, planning and costs and you advice and support internal and external parties on product topics.
What we ask
- You have a MSc degree, preferably in a relevant technical field like e.g. Food Technology.
- You have more than 3 years professional experience in innovation projects as part of project teams in an industrial setting.
- You are an independent, proactive, structured and well organised person with and a strong drive for results.
- You are customer focused and are able to act with speed and decisiveness to achieve the best results.
- Have affinity with leading new product development projects.
- Are a team-player with excellent communication skills in multicultural environments with many stakeholders.
- You are digitally savvy and show interest for digitalization processes
- Have a driving license to easily reach our production and office locations
What we offer
Location: Innovation Centre Wageningen (Netherlands) and willing to travel to Lummen on a weekly base; Alternative location Cream team FC-P in Lummen (Belgium) and willing to travel to Wageningen
You will be responsible for:
- Provide technical input to the product concept and brief in close collaboration with the Marketing team.
- Lead projects as project manager for technical or product innovations/optimization.
- Develop product prototypes on lab/pilot scale according to Nutritional, Sensory, Production, Quality and Legal requirements.
- Scale up new recipes and processes for implementation on factory scale.
- Screen, select and brief ingredient suppliers together with the Procurement team.
- Execute product development/optimization projects (short term) such as handling customer requests.
- Generate technical product specifications.
- Give pro-active advice to implement product optimization.
- Advise production in relation to troubleshooting and QA-issues.
- Participate in development of new technologies which will enable development of new or improved products in the future.
- Generate new ideas based on latest technological developments.
