Senior Packaging Development Specialist
You will develop, implement and improve our packaging solutions to make a difference for our brands. You will lead projects in an efficient way and further optimize the collaboration with our operating companies as well as with our category teams. In this role you will be part of the Global Packaging Development expert team within our extensive Research of Development network and you will report to the Packaging Development Manager Asia. You will mainly develop packaging for the Asia Region.
What we ask
- A Bachelor / Master degree, preferably in the area of Industrial Design, Food Technology, Process/Packaging Technology, Engineering etc.;
- Ideally 8 years+ of relevant packaging development experience within Food/FMCG Packaging or at a packaging supplier;
- Subject matter expert in 1-2 Packaging Technologies a plus (ideally Metal Can, UHT Beverage Carton, or Flexible Packaging technologies)
- Knowledge of packaging machine development that covers evaluation, selection, installation, validation, innovation of new equipment and improvement of existing packaging lines (expertise a plus)
- Knowledge of packaging material development in all formats and in different product applications
- Advanced project management skills, ideally with the stage gate model;
- Project Leadership experience with multiple countries encompassing Global scope and experience working effectively in a Global Matrix organization
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skill. Ability to deal with ambiguity and stakeholder management.
- Flexibility to travel frequently (20-30%) in Asia as border restrictions allow

Vacancy description
- Focus on New Packaging Development and innovation, Value Engineering and New Technology roadmaps. Deliver packaging solutions that add value to our business and markets, increase our sustainability and comply with food safety regulations
- Make key contributions and potentially lead a Packaging key Sustainability work platform.
- Drive and implement Packaging Innovations either as a project member or project leader and via collaborating closely with your key stakeholders; Marketing, Operations and procurement.
- Engage external suppliers on their capabilities and latest technologies to develop new concepts and validate & implement them.
- Assess, improve and refine existing packaging applications by setting up, planning and executing projects within defined KPI’s, following the project management guidelines as well as R&D and business strategy.
- Identify and deliver packaging value engineering projects jointly with procurement and operations
- Contribute to the development and knowledge sharing on a specific key packaging technology to further build expertise within the company
- Support for consumer studies and insight generation
- End to end packaging development from concept creation to technical translation
- Manage the packaging specifications within a specific technology expertise team. You will identify new commercial and technological developments to generate new opportunities based on insights and creativity, translating these into projects or building blocks for your own area in line with business requirements.
