Develop and ensure realization of the operations strategy for the LQS Microbiology department, lead your team and continuously improve the operational processes in line with the LQS strategy and applicable regulations and guidelines, in order to realize the agreed objectives and targets. Wat we vragen

  • Demonstrable experience in change management is essential.
  • 4-year relevant and completed applied Sciences Bachelor (HBO) education in Chemistry, Food Technology or (technical) Business administration (or comparable)
  • Knowledge of microbial analysis methods and laboratory equipment is a plus
  • Knowledge of laboratory process flows  
  • Analytical work and thinking skills 
  • Up-to-date knowledge of quality management and quality management systems
  • Experience in a managerial position is an advantage

Vacaturetekst

1.    Department strategy
•    Develop the policies and objectives for the department on a tactical level, in line with overall laboratory strategy and provide input to the development of the overall operations strategy for the laboratory.

2.    Year plan/budget
•    Develop a challenging year plan and budget for the department with use of the overal strategy and the input from the shiftleaders with the aim to maintain high quality standards, high employee motivation, continuously improve work processes and an increase productivity.
•    Acquire approval from the management for year plan and budget. 

3.    Execution Year plan
•    Ensure the implementation of the year plan, monitor the progress and, if necessary, take measures in line with the applicable guidelines.

4.    QASHE management
•    Create support and awareness for QASHE and ensure the implementation of QASHE guidelines.
•    Ensure QASHE guidelines and relevant procedures are being followed and processes and workspaces are always auditproof.

5.    Resource management
•    Manage, allocate and optimize the resources needed to run the laboratory department (materials, people, equipment) and projects within the budget.

6.    Management information
•    Provide insights at request or at own initiative regarding quantitative and qualitative developments by means of periodical and ad hoc reports and/or analyses, based on reporting guidelines.

7.    Continuous improvement
•    Analyse current (work)processes, signal and evaluate bottlenecks and initiate and implement improvements.
•    Initiate, define, plan, manage and coordinate assigned projects, within the project management guidelines.

8.    People management
•    Appoint, lead, coach and appraise shiftleaders and develop and stimulate a good cooperation between shiftleaders both within and outside of the department. 
•    Focus on keeping illness rate within the company targets and maintain high standards on absence management making use of the instruments, service and procedures of the HRM department.
•    Manage training and qualification of employees to ensure a high quality standard and enough qualified personnel.
•    Support a good cooperation with the personnel planning and forecasting department to ensure maximum short term flexibility and a timely anticipation to the tactical planning horizon.

9.    Relation management
•    Build and maintain a network of relevant (external) stakeholders as well as manage the relation with the (direct) environment of the department.

LQS (Laboratory & Quality Services in Leeuwarden) is part of FrieslandCampina: it’s the central laboratory and knowledge centre where we conduct research into areas such as the chemical, sensory and microbiological fields. The work is commissioned by FrieslandCampina production facilities and takes place for many different products.
