Rutger’s story

Currently Rutger works as a Global Senior Learning & Development Specialist. Together with the team they are looking through a global lens and work on learning interventions, infrastructure and learning culture for all our employees over the world. Rutger joined FrieslandCampina five years ago. His first role, head of Employer Branding Netherlands, he only did for eight months. Then he took the change to switch to the global team and became Global Employer Branding Manager. “An exciting role I filled for four years, until I recently made the switch to learning and development.”

I think it’s fun to start on an empty canvas and create something nice.

Creative by Nature

Rutger is creative and loves to read and draw with his kids. In his work he can use his creativity in multiple ways. “I believe in the art of storytelling, which I use in presentations or the content I’ve created. I also use my drawing skills to simplify things. In my work or during meetings I visualize what I hear. I learned by doing this it forces me to make things simpler”.

What he loves most about his job is the people he connects with. He collaborates with different teams around the world on a regular basis. During these meetings they discuss the challenges and activities in different countries. “I think it very special that I work together with people with many different backgrounds and cultures. Everyone within FrieslandCampina truly wants to help each other out. There is a lot of trust and respect and it makes it easy to reach out to each other. This sparks my motivation and creativity”.
Besides that he is also part of the Centre of Expertise, where he works with different experts on global topics. “The challenges we face can be very complex. I like these kind of challenges and it brings me energy, especially when we achieve the things we aim for”.
