Data Steward (SSC)

The purpose of the Data Steward role is to manage the end-to-end maintenance of high quality business relevant global (shared) master data objects (Customer, Material, Vendor, Finance) in the systems, in line with agreed KPIs, standards and rules and with excellent customer service.

What we ask

1-2 years of master data management experience in 1-2 functional domains (Procurement, Commerce, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance) and the related master data objects

Knowledge of customer care techniques and processes
Successful track record of delivery and performance

Fluent English knowledge (other languages are advantages)

Office based administrative experience with regular contact between various departments

Ability to follow defined processes and keep deadlines

Computer literacy

Strong organizing and prioritizing skills, attention to details

Proactive, adaptable and flexible in approach to work

Vacancy description

Day to day management of requests and changes:

  • Fully understand the data maintenance processes and use this knowledge to effectively manage future system data changes
  • Check and approve master data creation and/or change requests, in line with data quality standards and agreed governance
  • Enter, test and release master data items in the SAP or other related system(s)
  • Robustly facilitate any remedial work needed on a request
  • Efficiently monitor tickets, prioritise and deal/dispatch to achieve fulfilment of KPIs (within data quality standards)
  • Keep regular communication with all interested parties, ensuring that they know the status of pending requests and any related issues
  • Ensure that the team member who acts as a backup to the role in the event of annual leave, sickness, etc. is fully trained with the necessary knowledge and skills to cover the role


Checking, validation and cleansing of data:

  • Run reports and queries to highlight data quality issues


Supporting the business:

  • Provide business ‘helpdesk’-type support pertaining to master data management and act as first line support (point of information and escalation) for the business
  • Understand different business areas and related data management needs
  • Provide necessary training to the local data stewards and local power users within the region
  • Build and maintain good relationship with the business (e.g.: requestors, local data stewards, etc.)
  • Provide information and knowledge to business
