Packaging Developer (all genders)
Can you turn complex packaging challenges into smart, sustainable and future‑proof solutions?
At FrieslandCampina, we’re looking for a packaging developer who thrives in a dynamic, data‑driven environment. In this role, you will work across a very broad spectrum of packaging formats, from consumer dairy packaging to secondary and tertairy packaging such as boxes, trays and wrap‑around. You get to work on metal cans, beverage cartons, plastic cups, cheese and butter packaging, cream dispensers , solutions for the out‑of‑home and horeca channels and much more.
You translate stakeholder needs, sustainability ambitions, operational requirements and legislative developments (including PPWR) into packaging that performs across the full value chain. If you combine curiosity, analytical thinking and strong collaboration skills, this role gives you the opportunity to shape the future of dairy packaging across multiple formats, materials and markets.

- You have working knowledge of packaging materials, processing technologies and sustainability frameworks.
- Affinity with packaging legislation, especially PPWR, and ability to convert regulatory requirements into design choices.
- Ability to balance functionality, sustainability, manufacturability and cost in your packaging designs.

Employment benefits:
- Salary between €4,550 and €6,000 gross per month (full-time), depending on experience and fit for the role.
- A work week of 32 to 38 hours, a 5% year-end allowance, 10% company bonus, 8% holiday allowance and a pension scheme.
- Hybrid working with flexible working hours, a train card and/or €0.23 per km (max. 30 km one way).
- 200 hours of annual leave, with the option to buy or sell up to 40 hours.

As a Packaging Developer at FrieslandCampina, you play a central role in turning complex requirements into smart, compliant and sustainable packaging solutions. You collaborate daily with colleagues from R&D, marketing, procurement, quality and supply chain; as well as with suppliers and co‑manufacturers across the globe.
Your scope covers the full range of packaging technologies and formats. You lead packaging development from concept to industrial implementation, ensuring solutions meet consumer expectations, operational needs and legislative requirements (including PPWR).
Whether you are improving recyclability, enhancing supply chain performance, qualifying alternative materials, optimizing secondary packaging or developing packaging for a new product concept, your work has impact across the entire value chain, from our member farmers to our customers and consumers.

You’ll be part of FrieslandCampina’s R&D Packaging team, based at the Innovation Center in Wageningen. Our team supports all business units and operates across a wide range of packaging formats, for both B2C and B2B markets.
