Junior Application Development Specialist Adult Nutrition Proteins
FrieslandCampina Ingredients is a key player in the global market for dairy ingredients in Adult & Early Life Nutrition. For our Application and Technical Expert team we are looking for a collaborative, proactive, creative and analytical application developer who enjoys practical work. As Application Development Specialist, you will deliver critical expertise in dairy proteins and applications to drive growth among our strategic customers in the dynamic Adult Nutrition market.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing application recipes using our ingredients and expanding our application knowledge base. You will develop applications with FCI products, such as Ready to Drink, Yoghurt, Ready to Mix protein powder shakes. You use your technical knowledge, in- and external network to meet customer requirements and build, report and share knowledge. You use your creativity to inspire our customers with new applications. You like to co-create with our customers in our labs. You enjoy practical application work, analysis and take care of planning and reporting. You are capable of working independently, but you excel as a team player.

- You must have an applied technical background with practical experience in the area of Food Technology / Product Development and Dairy (proteins). Preferably ingredient application know how on Adult Nutrition applications (Like ready to Mix, Ready to Drink, Bars, Functional Food, yoghurt, and/or its ingredients (GOS, DHA, dairy proteins etc.) with a minimum of post-secondary education: Bachelor (more than 3 years of work experience) or Master (Food technology/Pharma).
- You should enjoy practical work and learning new things, as we expect you to work with a very broad range of applications (consumer products). Therefore, this role requires proven experience in product development, strong analytical skills, a proactive and solution-oriented mindset, creativity, and excellent communication abilities.
- You are capable of independently planning and executing practical experiments, including analysis and reporting. At the same time, you are a strong team player who enjoys working closely with colleagues.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing application recipes, using our ingredients and expanding our application knowledge base:
- You develop and support nutritional application development using the broad portfolio of FCI Ingredients. Examples of applications are high-protein shakes (Ready to Mix), Ready to Drink, Protein bars, functional foods, and yoghurts.
- Plan and carry out practical application work, including (shelf life) analysis and reporting.
- Increase application knowledge through experiments and external networks.
- Capture and share knowledge with colleagues to strengthen expertise.
- Collaborate closely with regional and global Technical Sales Specialists (TSS) to provide customers with tailored application solutions.
- Carry out co-development or development work at customer sites.
- Work with the product development team on applications for new ingredients and on designing new combinations of ingredients for specific applications.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners, such as producers of application samples and suppliers of ingredients.
- Carry out co-development or development work at our and customer sites.
- Support the preparation of samples for clinical studies.
- Manage and keep stock of application samples up to date.
You are part the FrieslandCampina Ingredients development team of about 60 R&D colleagues. Within this larger team you work in an international team of Technical Sales Specialists and Application Developers, who work on the different ingredients and applications we offer. Protein bars is one of our strategic application segments.
This position is located at the Innovation Center in Wageningen, but you will also work regularly in our office in Amersfoort to cooperate with our Sales and Marketing colleagues. Additionally, you may be required to go for supplier or customer visits whenever necessary.
