As the Applications Developer, you will have an important role in creating a broad range of inspiring applications to showcase our ingredients in end products. In this way, you will support growth and strengthen our relationships with our customers in the fast-paced nutrition market.

Essential knowledge and experience
- Bachelors degree in Food Science/Technology or similar field, Masters preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of application and prototype product development. Solid technical background with hands-on experience in product development of RTDs, gummies, protein bars, yogurts, powder shakes, and more. Ability to prepare, taste products (no known food allergens or restrictions) and describe sensory cues/flavor profiles.
- Understanding of the Performance and Active Nutrition customer base, market trends, ingredients and product applications
- Practical knowledge of various food ingredients, with a special focus on dairy and dairy proteins (GOS/fibers, encapsulates, hydrolysates, etc., is a bonus). Knowledge of how ingredients perform in different food matrix and react to various processing procedures.
- Good communication and project coordination skills
- High level of independence and autonomy, given that rest of the technical team resides in different locations.
- You should enjoy the fast-paced commercial environment, which requires proactive stakeholder management and relation-building abilities across functions like sales, supply chain, QA, development, and customers.
- This position will be based in Paramus, NJ, where the lab is located, however, some business trips will be required ( 10% -30% of time)

In this position, you will offer technical support to obtain commercial objectives for our customers by being a proactive business partner of TSS, Sales, Marketing, and PGM. This position will focus on maintaining and growing current business and landing innovations
You accomplish this through:
1) your ability to create a wide range of applications with our ingredients
- Providing applications as “conversation starters” for commercial colleagues.
- Working together with the TSS and Sales as well as customer R&D on shared projects with the customer.
2) Your customer focus, commercial awareness, and skills:
- Build and maintain a relationship of trust with key contacts together with the TSS and sales.
- Using this relation to gain insights in customer needs and translating these needs to specific applications fulfilling customer requirements.
- Focusing on creating a WIN-WIN situation for RFC and our customers. Using a customer relationship management system (Salesforce) to monitor and track progress.
3) Expanding the prototyping capability both internally and externally.
- FrieslandCampina provides a platform to implement your creativity, leverage the available resources, and expand the local prototyping capability to extend the application of our ingredients. Use communication and project coordination skills to accelerate this process proactively.
4) Maintenance of the local lab and sample stock
- As the housekeeper of the local lab and sample room, you keep the equipment in good shape and maintain the flow of samples to support the cross-functional team.
