Internship on the translation and integration of the physical properties software library
Internship on the translation and integration of the physical properties software library (Duration 4 - 6 months)
RFC Global Process Technology uses gPROMS as a language for process simulations. Many general-use functions are stored in gPROMS ‘libraries’. One of these libraries contains information on the physical properties of our raw materials and products. However this library is a black box, and we would prefer to have an in-house library using the Python language.
The objective of the internship is to make an in-house library to:
- Simplify maintenance: if new insights require extension or changes to the functions or parameters, it is easy to modify.
- To possibly use the library outside the gPROMS environment.
- To align the physical model functions in the library with models used in other parts of the organization

Ce oferim
What we offer?
We offer an interesting and challenging internship position, providing you the opportunity to develop yourself in your work field. You can count on sufficient professional supervision and a reasonable internship allowance.
Descrierea postului vacant
During internship you are working on these aspects:
- Making an inventory of the physical models contained within the gPROMS library and other applications, including their parametrization.
- Comparing these models with the models used in other departments of RFC R&D(?).
- Rewriting the models as Python functions.
- Integrating the Python code/module in gPROMS
- Testing the outcome of the Python functions with those of the gPROMS library.
- Documenting the new Python library.

Vezi toti colegii pe LinkedinFor thousands of people every day, we are more than just a dairy company. To our farmers, our employees, the communities we serve, the businesses we work with and the people to whom we bring happiness, FrieslandCampina means something more. For them it's not just about what we do, but who we are.
We value talented people from any background who want to contribute to something bigger than themselves. We encourage all of our employees to make decisions that benefit our entire company. At FrieslandCampina we own our own career and act accordingly. We trust you to make a difference in your job and influence the bigger picture. Working at FrieslandCampina means you are contributing to a better world.
The intern will be part of the cluster Data Driven Optimization at the department of Global Process Technology (GPT) in FrieslandCampina R&D. In GPT, we power the business to win in the market and realize smart factories of the futures. We aim for a clever valorization of our farmers milk and also for a better world by introducing new technologies and lift current processes to the highest level, thus creating carbon and water neutral production sites.
Within the cluster of data driven optimization, we contribute to the projects within GPT with expertise on process development (how do you best develop a new process?), data science (how can we turn data into information and applicable knowledge?) and modelling (how can we capture our processes in mathematical models?). We do this by defining the ways of working, shaping the roadmaps of other expertise areas and of course by actively helping in numerous projects with the decades of accumulated experience that our cluster members have.
