Service Manager Connectivity

Job Purpose

  • As a Service Manager you will be responsible to deliver a secure, reliable & cost effective connectivity services for FrieslandCampina. You will define & execute service strategy, including innovation and run service operations ‘as a shop’ with full accountability across >130 locations globally encompassing 300+ WAN circuits & 5000+ active network devices.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Accountable for delivery of a global network infrastructure services (LAN & WAN)

  • Define and execute service strategy, including innovation

  • Manage budget and cost control

  • Lead cross functional teams and manage relationships with key stakeholders & suppliers

  • People Management


  • Direct reports:3-5 (Service Delivery Mgrs. & Network Specialists)

  • Indirect reports: 3 Solutions Architects & 5-6 managed service provider personnel (Network Specialists, Operations Mgrs., Project Managers)

Budget Responsibility:

  • €8.5M OPEX, Project Budget: €2.5M annually

What we ask

  • Basic Degree in IT / Computer Science, Post Graduate degree preferred

  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in IT infrastructure domain with sound technical expertise of networking & security solutions & architecture across IT & OT domains

  • Strong knowledge of IT service management processes and experience in delivering improvements to these processes

  • Good understanding of the underlying business processes and systems

  • Experience of leading cross functional teams and managing relationships with business customers

  • Strong communication, presentation & leadership skills

  • Experience of working with multiple third party vendors

  • Experience in IT Service Development, Management & Operations.

  • Extensive people management experience (direct / indirect)

  • Hands-on experience in Project/Program Project Management

Vacancy description

Strategy & Transformation

  • Leads strategy and vision development for own service and align across all IT Capabilities & external stakeholders to define long term innovation & service improvement roadmap
  • Has broad knowledge of integrated infrastructure & security services and business processes
  • Manage change (in own domain and across Infrastructure Operations capabilities) and transformation of service end-to-end from conceptual to implementation / operationalizing
  • Proposal on selection/sourcing of people / capabilities, technologies, solutions, architecture, design standards and contracts/suppliers
  • Decide on services (portfolio), service level and related billing and cross charging to the business

Delivery of global network infrastructure services (LAN & WAN)

  • Take full accountability for the end-to-end performance in terms of cost, quality, speed of delivery, sustainability and communication towards customers and stakeholders.
  • Governance and performance management of the managed network services.
  • Lead from the front during critical business incidents
  • Budget management OPEX / CAPEX and cost control, including to identify saving opportunities.
  • Drive continuous service improvement and introduce innovative technology
  • Develop the service strategy and build sustainable and strategic relations with suppliers

Engagement and Communication

  • Leads discussion and decisions for own service with both internally and externally (> 2 strategic suppliers). focused on common benefits / goals.
  • Works across levels in Org, engages with ELTs and ELT-1s on service improvements, innovation and critical service operational matters.

People and Leadership

  • Develop talents, improve team performance with clear targets setting, timely coaching and guidance
  • Develop a culture of result orientated leadership

You will be an integral member of Global IT Network & Connectivity Platform team, consisting of passionate enthusiasts across Service Delivery Management, Technical Specialists, Project Management and Solutions Architecture domains based in Amersfoort, Netherlands as well as Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Specifically, you will be:

  • Directly communicating / collaborating with peers and leaders of other Global IT Capability teams as well as key stakeholders / customers in Business Groups. Direct & service strategy reviews with CIO and other members IT Leadership Team.

  • Extensively connected externally with industry leaders similar to our company to benchmark and set strategy

  • Managing existing suppliers (directly and indirectly) – mainly 4 strategic providers with 3-5 smaller suppliers. Also finding new innovative partners for future capabilities.
